Guinness Book of World Records itself congratulated Maria Branias Moreira on Instagram for this record. But with such a long life, American-born Spanish Moreira has a wealth of achievements. She is the oldest woman in the world who has seen both world wars.
Morera, born in 1907, is also one of the elders who has experienced two dangerous epidemics in her life and came out alive in both of them. She also witnessed the time of Spanish Flu that spread about 100 years ago and also the time of Covid-19 that spread in 2019 and in both the times she managed to survive by remaining healthy.
Guinness Book of World Records posted a post on Instagram congratulating her on her birthday on March 4 and wrote, “Happy birthday to Maria Branias Moreira who is celebrating her 117th birthday today. She got the status of the world’s oldest woman in January 2023.
It is written in the post that Maria was born on March 4, 1907 in San Francisco, America, but returned to Catalonia with her family at the age of 8. Where she has been living in a nursing home for the last 23 years.
